I am really into painters lately. Love these. I think there is some photo transfer going on, which would explain the ink listed in the materials. don't you wish that instead of just listing materials, a piece description was more like this:"Untitled, 2004. 20" x 40". Pkay first i photographed this rock, then I printed it large format on a large scale printer. then i used such and such chemical to transfer the image. I rub the back of the image with this kind of brush, then I...." and so on and so forth. but I guess that takes away some of the fun, certainly for the artist.

good point! just listing the media/materials is a broken system. as usual, you've articulated a feeling i didn't realize i had until now.
ReplyDeletethere's no photo transfer. the works on paper are made with graphite, ink, watercolor, and gouache on paper and the paintings are oil on linen. all works are made with brushes.
ReplyDeleteoops, my mistake. wow then, now i REALLY want to know the process, because the detail looks amazing.
